The Inside Pitch

Jul 25, 2005

The Inside Pitch has been nominated for an L.A. Area Emmy Award.  This engaging unscripted television program about the art and business of selling a Hollywood script is an American Idol for screenwriters.  The show follows a screenwriter's workshop conducted by ICM Executive Story Editor, Christopher Lockhart and Jack d'Annibale, Creative Executive at Jerry Bruckheimer Films.  Through constructive feedback from the executives and entertaining interactions with the earnest screenwriters, the program reveals fascinating insights into the business of the entertainment industry, the skill of pitching a script, and the art of screenwriting.

The Inside Pitch originated out of the desire of Lockhart and d'Annibale to hold free, educational, and community based sessions that would guide aspiring screenwriters.  Using an "open-casting call" format, screenwriters from L.A. and beyond, and including young and old, voluntarily make their pitches in front of a live studio audience.  After each presentation, the two Hollywood executives provide their critique.  At the end of the show, the entire audience helps select the winning pitch.  The Inside Pitch provides a unique and lively educational perspective on what elements are needed to write a successful script, and how to capture the attention of Hollywood filmmakers.

The hour long Special Edition DVD available online at www.kallis.org contains thirty minutes of additional material not included in the LA36 Television broadcast.
