Hershel has been a member of the Magazine Publishers Association and a Director of the Association of Area Regional Business Publications.

He has been a long-standing member of the Advertising Club of Los Angeles and served on the Board of Directors for the Western Publications Association. His biography is listed in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in Entertainment.
